Professor Bruno VELLAS
Bruno VELLAS, MD, PhD, (Toulouse, France) is Professor of Medicine and Head of Toulouse University Hospital's Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Gerontology and Director of the Toulouse Gérontopôle. He is Chief of Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical Research Centre at the Toulouse University Hospital and was Founder of the European Alzheimer’s Disease Consortium (EADC). He is member of the INSERM Unit 1027 on Aging (National Institute on Health and Medical Research).
For more than 20 years now he has been involved in large trials on Alzheimer's disease and on Frailty. Professor Vellas has published over 480 articles in the field and especially on Alzheimer and disease modifying treatment, Frailty, Sarcopenia Research. He was nominated «Officier de la Légion d’Honneur» and is Corresponding member of the French National Academy of Medicine.
Prof VELLAS served as President of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) from 2009 to 2013 and is currently Director of IAGG’s Global Aging Research Network (IAGG GARN).
